Manchester UnitedLast Saturday, 16th of May 2009, happens to be a great day for me and all Manchester United fan all over the world. The GREATEST team in the world claimed its third Premiership title in a row and also equaled Liverpool F. C.’s history of winning eighteen (18) League championships.

It was amazing seeing United lift their fourth trophy this season, starting with the Charity Shield. I couldn’t help but stand in awe of these great achievements as the players celebrate another trophy. I was watching with excitement when the interview session came and I got a glimpse of how the Great Sir Alex Ferguson brought the team this far from the humble beginning.

I have always believed behind every successful achievement, there are underlying factors and I got proved right when Sir Alex was interviewed. Let me state this, before the arrival of Fergie, as Sir Ferguson is popularly refered to, United has gone several years without touching the League trophy. They have always being also runs in the league and Liverpool has always being the leader of the pack.

When Ferguson came, he brought a belief that Liverpool can be upstaged as the best team in England and this belief spread through the rank and file at Old Trafford. The lesson from this is that we all need to know what we want to achieve and go for it without any form of doubt.

In his first five years, Ferguson did not deliver any trophy but no panic button was pressed because of the belief that something GREAT is on the way. He was persistently working on his dream by building a team and a strong academy that will challenge for honours in years to come.

In any endeavour we engage in, success may not come easily and it does not mean it won’t come. No vision, no matter how lofty it seems, will come to pass instantly and that is why the Bible admonished us to wait for it though it takes long in coming to pass. Persistence is the key word here. A lot of Coaches were sacked during this period but Fergie was untouched.

When we patiently and persistently follow our dreams, we are bound to meet with success one day. In 1990, Sir Alex won the F. A. Cup and delivered the European Cup Winners Cup the next season and that started the avalanche of trophies that have besieged Old Trafford, to the extent the Stadium is now being refered to as the European Capital of Trophies. Wow!

Who can think a team that has being playing second fiddle some decades ago can now become the pride of all? Those who can’t even name some players in the team are associating themselves with Manchester United! Liverpool’s history of winning eighteen league trophies has now being thrown, along with their bragging rights, into the bin of history.

I shared in my last article that it is not where or how you start from that matters but the direction you are heading towards. If only you can believe, you can move from the back stage of life to the very front. If only you can see the BIG picture, have belief in yourself and start working persistently on the vision.

Defeats and challenges of all kinds will come but when the BIG picture is always in front of you, you will NEVER be perturbed and surely the day will eventually arrive that you will become the cynosure of all eyes just as the beautiful bride, Manchester United.

Join me as I sing: GLORY, GLORY, , MAN UNITED (3x)
AND THE REDS GO MARCHING OOONNNNN!
