2009, A Year of What?
I am sure a lot of people will be wondering why I have not posted any article for the year. Today is the 7th of January and no New Year greetings whatsoever. It is surely strange. Well, I have been looking at the euphoria exhibited by people for seeing the New Year and I did received numerous sms at the break of the New Year and I hardly sent one for a reason.
Before we got to the end of 2008, I have been wondering what happened in 2008 and what awaits us all in 2009. I have seen a lot of people make promises of getting better in 2008 and drifting along the way. I have seen plans go kaput along the way and I have seen a lot of unfocused actions by numerous people around me. I got entagled in so many things I wasn’t really proud of as well, and all those got me thinking.
If we enter the New Year with so much excitement and so much plans, why do we fizzle out so easily along the way? Why get motivated at the beginning and lose everything even before reaching the half mark? Why set so many resolutions at the beginning of the year and forgeting most even before finishing January of the same year? It calls for serious thinking and a REVOLUTION not just resolutions we make.
I have decided not to wish one a happy New Year but to wish them what ever they call the Year. I have sampled a lot of themes for the year from different churches and it is so interesting what everyone is calling the year. I don’t want to start reeling the themes out now but the truth is that the themes will only work for those that BELIEVE in them and dare imbibe the message into their daily livings. Making the year a successful one is a personal responsibility and it is one I want to challenge everyone reading this message to take up.
At the end of the year you will be looking back and you will be reaping the rewards you have sown through out the year. Just like my Mentor, Jim Rohn, said, we will all be good at one of two things, sowing in the Spring or regretting in the Summer. I don’t know which one you prefer. It is not the affirmations that will work this time, it is what you do and what you choose to BELIEVE!
I have made up my mind to do what I have to do, WHEN I have to do them and to contribute to many lives this year. I have my BIG GOALS and I am sure you have yours, so it is our duty to stay commited to our goals and make them HAPPEN this year. No one will do this for you, IT IS YOUR DUTY!
Starting from next week, I will start a marathon of posts to help everyone make this year a successful one and I am sure all that read these posts will witness transformations beyond expectations. It is what I have determined to do this year. I am also working on three projects that will launch out NaijaMotivation to the whole world and help transform lives all over the world.
This is to wish you whatever you wish yourself this year

Hi Oni,
This is an insightful post. A somber but sincere approach at looking at the opening of a new year and peoples’ conception of it.
Thanks for it and hope you have a very fruitful new year in terms of achieving your set goals and heart-desires.

Bola,
Wonderful thot. i actually wondered about the long silnce but now i see why.
You touch me greatly with this piece because i am a culprit.
this piece will help my focus to change.
Hi Bola,
I cannot but agree totally with your assertion about what a new year represents. It is actually a period to re-dedicate oneself to whatever goals one had been working at in the outgone year or review the achievements and simply remain focused in order to achieve more successes.
However, the process of being continuously focused is actually the challenge everyone must try and overcome in 2009, if you must impact on lives positively in any area of human endeavour you are involved with.
A great post indeed.
Thanks Solomon, it is surely going to be GREAT this year. Keep up the GREAT work

Tony, the silence is just for a reason, which you can now see
We are all guilty at one time or the other man, but our mistakes should serve as lessons
for a greater tomorrow.
