You Are Responsible!

I have seen so many people whine several times about how their lives have turned out. They seem to have millions of reasons why they are not moving forward with their lives. There is always a somebody that is responsible for their failures. It is either their family or friends, colleagues, their teachers back in school or their bosses.
They talk about how their family background, the place of their birth or the environment has given them undue disadvantage. The government is also not left out of their list. It is either the economic policy is too harsh on them or that the government didn’t create enough jobs for them to do. But the unfortunate thing is that no one ever mentioned himself as being part of the list of those responsible for their present state.
I have come to tell you that where and what you are today, is as a result of your actions and inactions. You are totally responsible for the events that have shaped your life so far. Whether you have money in your pocket or you do not, you are responsible. The job you are doing now, whether you enjoy it or not, you are responsible. The more you shift responsibility to other people concerning the state of your life, the more you continue to remain in that state.
You alone can determine how your life will turn out and you alone can change your life. No one else will do it for you. Why should anybody lose sleep over your present condition? Do you think the government or your boss care about you? Nobody could care more for your life than you. Take charge of your life and see the changes that will happen to you.
You feel good about yourself to the degree to which you feel you are in control of your own life. You will also feel bad about yourself to the degree to which you feel you are out of control in your life. You are always in the position to pick your choice. I want to tell you that you have the power to alter your life from what it is now to what you wish it to be, by simply taking control of your life. When you cede the control of your life to somebody else than yourself, you are also leasing out your happiness. The more people that are in control of your life, the more of your power you give away.
To take control of your life, you must begin by taking control of your mind. Your ability to think the thoughts you want, irrespective of events happening around you, and to determine your goals and the results you desire, is the starting point of all happiness and high attainment. You must be able to examine your life and identify areas you have ceded away the control of your life to people and circumstances around you. Resolve to make a decision to stop some things or start doing some things that will help you in regaining the control you have ceded away.
Happy and successful people have learnt to take charge of their lives and take personal responsibility for whatever happens in their lives. You can also do same. Please Take Charge of Your Life.

For those who feel these things sometimes may be easier said than done, see the moral behind it as concentrating on maximizing your current status. To be honest, one can’t but have a long list of all contributing factors to one’s state of being - govt, nepa, bossy boss, choked up schedules, bad and selfish lecturers, regular traffic jam (for Lagosians) and so on. In all of these, this adage holds -”you can’t prevent birds from flying over your head, but you sure can prevent them from building a nest on your head”. So you see, it all boils down to how you handle and are able to maximize EVERY (note it, “every”) situation that you are surrounded with because, those who have made it and are still making it are likewise faced with similar situations (and maybe worse). Begin to see life in that perspective as from now. Ask yourself how you can make the best out of your situation. If you don’t have an answer, ask someone capable to help. Be COMMITTED to your success and you’ll soon discover it (your success that is) is achievable. Stay blessed.
