Important Lesson From Yahooze!
When the Yahooze song was released by Olu Maintain, I was part of those that despise the song because of what it represents. Though so many interpretations have been given to the song, my own personal view is that the song is glorifying a social ill that needs to be condemned by all and sundry.
Soma days to Christmas, I visited a friend and the video was playing on the television screen and I decided for the first time to pay attention to the song and the lyrics. Don’t get me wrong, I am a Yoruba guy and the song was in Yoruba as well, so I understood everything the guy was saying but I decided to pay closer attention that particular day.
After listening for a while, I discovered something unique in the song and that was exciting. Before sharing my discovery, let me quote a part of the song that intrigued me:
“Awon kan waye wa gbowo,
Awon kan waye was sise,
Awon kan…”
For those that do not understand Yoruba, let me try and translate it to the best of my understanding:
“Some came into the world to make money,
Some came into the world to work…”
What discovery did I then make from these lines? DISCOVERY OF PURPOSE! The truth is that a lot of people have purposed in their heart to do a lot of things, whether evil or good. Taking the Yahoo guys as an example, all they live for is to look for a “maga” to dupe. Though a lot of people detest their actions, but they are living for something.
I have seen so many people talk negatively about this act and you may be one of those people. My question is what are you, as a person, living for? What is your own purpose on this earth? What have you come to pursue on this earth?
Discovering the reason you are here will help transform your life in numerous ways. It will give you a peace of mind knowing fully well that you are on your way to achieving something meaningful in life.
Like one of my mentor said, this purpose is SERIOUS business! You should be concerned about discovering why you are living if you have not discovered it. As I have always maintained, God NEVER creates a lackey or a purposeless being, so it is your duty to discover why you are here.
Do you want to live a stress-free life? Is it your desire to look into the future with so much excitement rather than with trepidation? Is it your desire to be insulated from the worries of common people? All you need do is DISCOVER YOUR PURPOSE! Spend time with God and ask Him to reveal why you are here to you.
After discovering what you are here for, begin to live it and you will witness a tremendous change in your life. Any time you listen to Yahooze, let it minister to you and allow the message to sink in.
WHY ARE YOU HERE?

I have also thought of this as an interpretation to the song. More power to your elbow

Go making it happen man
February 26th, 2008 at 8:01 am
Insighful. I must however reiterate that the song celebrates and vindicates societal ills and should be discarded completely from the airwaves. There is leson to learn from every occurrence, so the fact that we can make a few assertions from the song does not in any way justify the its production.
Purpose is closely tied to design and design is solely dependent upon the expression of an intelligent creator. God is the supreme designer and intelligent creator of all. We find can only find our true being in Him. Purpose is not discovered by looking inwards or outwards.
Purpose is known by looking at the author and finisher of our faith, Christ himself. The Word and Spirit are the only valid pointers to our true purpose. Hence, we could have lived and achieved so much, and given our lives for the emancipation of the poor, but still have completely missed it if its not in sync with God’s perfect will.
Our purpose is to know, seek, follow and obey God. Period.

adetayo,
True talk, just looking at things from the other side man.
Thanks for your insightful comment!
Love you
May 15th, 2008 at 9:48 am
For the purpose of argument and intellectual debate, your piece is okay. However, one cannot be both righteous and unrighteous at the same time. The fact still remains that the song , “Yahooze” is ultimately glorifying crime and celebrating get-rich-quick-mania!
May 19th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Hey, wait a minute Adetayo and Austin. Maybe if u look at it from my angle, you’ll understand Bolly’s stance.
I have found out that in life, your ability to know what to ignore is what makes you wise.
What I’m trying to say is this: Learn your lesson from the song, and be ‘wise ‘. I believe that is also Bolly’s point of view, hence, the write up.
May 24th, 2008 at 12:31 am
Austin,
I agree with you, but in every bad things, there are lessons to learn.
May 24th, 2008 at 2:47 am
Oh yes, I totally agree with u Bolly. I care less about anything that happens to me or other people, whether good or bad. What i really care about is the lesson to learn from such happenings and i ignore the rest.
May 26th, 2008 at 10:48 am
Lordson,
Sorry I didn’t reply to your last post.
I fully concur with everything you said. There are always lessons to learn in anything in life, good or bad.
You are great my man.
May 26th, 2008 at 11:46 am
KEEP IT UP MAN, MORE POWER TO YOUR ELBOW. YOU A BLESSIN TO OUR GENERATION . I,VE ALSO BIN REFLECTING ON THE YAHOZEE STUFF. IN ESSENCE, I WILL NOT BE AMONG THE ASINNWAYES BY THE GRACE OF GOD. IAM ABOUT TO EXPLODE. YOU RE DA BOMB.
July 24th, 2008 at 7:46 am
Na soooo….I agree with you. Olu Maintain (my cousin) knew what he was singing. No wonder, the song is still good to hear… Well, it all boils down to the last question u asked…WHY ARE YOU HERE? Discover yourself. Olu Adegbulu (Olu Maintain) did, i can (i have - read my blog and comment on my blog, http://www.spiritofjesus.blogspot.com) and you can..
Thanks
